New boutique cinema that sells cakes and craft beer to open in Greater Manchester

A brand new stylish and independent cinema is coming to Sale. The Northern Light will be the latest attraction in Stanley Square and is set to open in early 2025.

The cinema will be replacing the WHSmith which will be leaving the shopping centre in September 2024.

Open all year round, The Northern Light promises to feature an eclectic range of releases from Hollywood to foreign language movies, classic films, National Theatre Productions and live events. The new complex will have three screens with the latest low energy laser projection and surround sound.

It will also have a bar serving wine, local craft beer, homemade cakes and the usual cinema snacks and fresh popcorn. The new Northern Light is another venture by Manero Cinemas Limited.

The family-owned business is are also responsible for other independent cinemas like the Rex in Wilmslow and Savoy in Heaton Moor. Michael Brown director of Altered Space the organisation behind the regenerated development said: “We are delighted to welcome The Northern Light Cinema to Stanley Square.

“The venue will be an excellent addition, further diversifying our offering and increasing footfall throughout the day and into the evening. It will also complement our exciting line up of food and beverage businesses.”
