As Wales emerges from its firebreak and England is plunged back into lockdown, Hickory’s Smokehouse has launched a nationwide delivery service for its meals.
Billed as a ‘barbecue in a box’ the team have developed a meal-kit that can reach the whole of the UK.
Hickory’s has sites in Wales, the North West and the Midlands – and these delivery meals are being prepared from a restaurant in Wilmslow, Cheshire, that is yet to open due to lockdown.
In the longer term the firm is now looking for a site for a new dedicated facility. They use DPD for the delivery of meals.
Its menu includes some of their favourite smokehouse dishes and the team have been planning and refining this for over a year.
All the meat is smoked in their authentic Ole Hickory smokers, then chilled and packed ready to be delivered to the door for people to heat and eat at home.
Hickory’s Rhos-On-Sea restaurant general manager Craig Gibson said: “Our Rhos-On-Sea restaurant has been popular with locals and visitors since we opened six years ago, so we are delighted that our guests will still be able to get their ‘Hicks Fix’ while things are on-pause again.
“We got so much support from our regulars and the local community since we re-opened after the first lockdown, so as you can imagine, we can’t wait to swing open the doors again soon.”
Hickory’s managing director John Welsh added: “We’ve been working on the Hickory’s At Home offering for some time now and obviously, with ongoing restrictions across the UK, it seems like an obvious time to launch it.
“Our aim is to offer people a real, authentic, Hickory’s experience, albeit at home, so we can’t wait to see what guests old and new think of it.”
