Molo Hotel Group’s portfolio includes Courtyard by Marriott London Luton Airport, Hotel Indigo Liverpool Ropewalks, Holiday Inn Express Cambridge West, Courtyard by Marriot Edinburgh West and Courtyard by Marriott Inverness Airport.

The company’s Holiday Inn Express Liverpool Ropewalks is due to open in the spring while The Reach at Piccadilly in Manchester will also open next year.

The business, which is registered in Sale and headquartered in Glasgow, added that it is also planning further acquisitions in Europe and the Caribbean.

As with all Molo properties, Hotel Alexandra will be operated by Lighthouse Hotel Management.

Ross Morrow, managing director of Molo Hotel Group, said: “We are delighted to finalise the acquisition of the Hotel Alexandra.

“A beautiful building in historic surroundings. We are excited by the plans to refurbish the property and to extend the Hotel Alexandra’s illustrious history.”

Stephen Bench, managing director of Lighthouse Hotel Management, added: “The Hotel Alexandra marks an important milestone for Lighthouse.

“Our first hotel in mainland Europe brings many opportunities and we can’t wait to create a first-class hotel experience on Via Veneto.”

News of the deal comes after recently-filed documents with Companies House revealed that the group turnover £11.2m in its most recent financial year and made a pre-tax loss of £1.1m.
