Fancy doing a challenge as a family in 2025? Join Visit from the Stork on our Walk, ride and roll event at Heaton Park! Walk, Cycle, Run, Push a pram/wheelchair or Scoot for Stork and raise money for vulnerable families and children across Greater Manchester to have a brighter tomorrow. Our Family 2km/5km is the perfect challenge to get parents and children active whilst doing something good for their community.
We will meet at the Lakeside cafe in Heaton park for registration, some warm up and stretching before walking, jogging, toddling and pram pushing together on a planned route. The route will be sent to all participants in advance but there will be volunteers and stewards along the way, as well as markers to tell you how far you’ve walked.
Once you reach the finish line, each family will receive a goody bag and be able to join us for a rest and a “bring your own” picnic to help celebrate your achievements! We have left plenty of time for each family to finish their challenge – starting at 11am and we will be on the field until around 2pm. Please make sure you dress for the weather, wear appropriate footwear, and bring snacks and drinks.
How much are tickets?
Tickets / registration fee for this event are ‘standard ticket’ – £10 for 1 adult and up to 3 x children, ‘extra’ adult £5 and ‘extra’ child £5. Each ticket helps cover costs (see below) as well as raises money directly to our new Brighter Tomorrow campaign (through which we are aiming to raise £10,000 of unrestricted income in our 10th year as an organisation) so no other fundraising is required, you can simply take part in the knowledge you have helped other families. Please select the correct ticket for your family and let us know in the registration form how many children you are bringing, even babies. The ‘extra’ adults and children cannot be bought without a standard ticket, but they do help us raise more money – so bring friends / family members along as extras!
For example;
2 parents or carers with 5 children between them should buy 2 x standard tickets.
2 parents with 3 children should buy 1 x standard ticket & 1 x extra adult ticket.
1 parent with 4 children should buy 1 x standard ticket & 1 x extra child ticket.
1 parent with 1 baby/ child should buy 1 x standard ticket.
There is an option to add a donation in addition to your ticket, with Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer. Please do this if possible – we will be forever grateful and the full donation will go towards our projects.
What will the registration/ticket fee be spent on?
Manchester City Council is charging us 0.95p per head or £200 total (whichever is greater) for this event. Part of each £10 ticket cost will go towards paying this for each member of your family that is taking part, so please tell us the correct number of children, including babies.
We also add a booking fee to the tickets to cover the charges for hosting the tickets on Eventbrite.
Visit from the Stork supports families in Salford, Manchester and Bury in every part of their journey – from pregnancy through to school and beyond. The rest of each ticket will go directly to our 10for10 campaign to raise £10,000- please see below for how we may spend the rest of each ticket.
