The Buri-Dale Guitar Duo are excited to present an evening of 20th Century classical guitar repertoire at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation. The focus of this recital is on the most iconic figure in classical guitar history, Andres Segovia. Before Segovia, the guitar was far from popular in the classical music canon. However, throughout his lifetime, from 1893 to 1987, the guitarist commissioned an incredible amount of music for the instrument and ultimately led to its revival. Arguably the most important and revered composers who worked with Segovia were Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Joaquin Rodrigo and Manuel Ponce, and it is these composers who feature in this unique programme of solo and duo classical guitar music.
