‘Cuerpo Nombrado’ by Paula Comitre – Flamenco at the Instituto Cervantes

26 June @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

£20 – £25

Cuerpo Nombrado (‘Named body’) is a dance collection, an alternation of different dances, united by the common tonality and graceful manner of Paula Comitre ’s performance.

The dancer performs literally on an open stage: there is nothing that would distract from Paula’s dance, no decorations and no additional elements. All attention is focused on the dance, on its character, form, and dynamics. The dance breathes freely and easily, the boundaries move apart, and the action develops as if it was outside the theatre walls. All metamorphoses and transformations take place in right front of the audience´s eyes. This is a female dance, performed on an open stage. Paula will be joined by Juan Campallo (guitar) and Miguel Ortega (singer).

Paula Comitre is one of the greatest talents of the contemporary flamenco world. Born in Sevilla 1994. She began studying dance at 3 years old, and at 8 she entered the Professional Dance Conservatory of Sevilla. In 2012, she obtained a degree of specialization in Flamenco Dance and became part of the Centro Andaluz de Danza (CAD). Since then, she has been a part of several top dancing companies in Spain such as Ballet Flamenco of Andalucía under the direction of Rafaela Carrasco, and David Coria Danza Company.

She successfully premiered her first solo show, “Cámara Abierta”, at the XXIV Festival de Jerez, achieving special recognition from critics and receiving the Revelation Artist Award. In March 2020 she was working at the Tablao Flamenco Garlochí in Tokyo.

Her performance reflects a great personality with tremendous energy and simplicity.

She is a Flamenco dancer of style, elegance and of a very high standard, she is gracious and generous.
